It has all characters I loved and needed more of (and alllll the feels). Kai now has a permanent spot on my book boyfriend list. And Lyra…such a wonderful female protagonist. Though Tides and Ruin can be read as a standalone, it is set in the same world as Miranda's Fae Rising series and their is significant character overlap and world events overlap. The events of Tides and Ruin take place during the time of the third book in the Fae Rising series, and although you will not be lost if you have not read that trilogy first, I think you do benefit greatly from reading this book after you read the first three books in the Fae Rising trilogy. That being said, Tides and Ruin is by far my favorite book out of the four I have read by Miranda Lyn. I liked these characters the best and I loved the romance in Tides and Ruin! - 3.0 out of 5 stars from Fifi -- If you love sirens and steamy romance… : This story follows a siren, Lyra, who is a well known siren and thief. She steals for her father for their Queen and she loves it since she loves to use her power and take advantage of people to show them how powerful she is. It’s interesting when she meets a man who is not affected by her siren powers and it’s hilarious how much it bothers her and how she tries so hard to affect him and fails each time. Well, one day, things go awry and she loses her siren song and basically all her power. Then she gets stuck in her Queen’s kingdom because the Fire Court comes to kill her Queen and take over her kingdom and free those enslaved to give them a chance at freedom and to join them in the upcoming war. Lyra decides to seduce the captain so that she can reach her father who is being held somewhere by the Fire Court to get her song back, since he said he could get it back for her. And so the story goes with her trying to reach her father but also not fall for this enigmatic captain. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2021 )

I couldn’t put it down. I’ve read the Fae Rising series so it was enjoyable seeing some scenes from a different perspective and absolutely heart shattering reading others.
